Fox Mill is one of the few elementary schools in the area that offer a Japanese immersion program. The elementary school is just the first of the remarkable schools that the neighborhood is zoned to attend. Within three miles is Rachel Carson Middle School. In 2002 it was a named a 'Showcase School' by the National Middle School Association and in 2004 was selected as a 'School to Watch'. Located within 10 miles of Fox Mill Estates is Oakton High School. In 2004, Oakton High School was rated by Newsweek as the 103rd best high school in the United States.
